Greetings YouNation!
Its been a while since our last post but we’ve been gearing up to evolve YouNation into something that will serve useful for start-up brands and advertisers.
No… we’re not opening YouNation.com to sell advertising space. We’re just growing and realizing that our culture can grow with more solid players involved.
During the remaining of 2011 we’ll be looking at some very unique visuals from around the world and from some amazing visual artists.
For the last two weeks I was blessed with the opportunity to visit the French Polynesian Island of Tahiti and will be posting visuals of the various street art I found during my trip.
Yes… I think about you all everywhere I go… enjoy!
Happy Friday from YouNation.com
Big thanx to R. Boogie for thinking of us during her travels

R. Boogie Snaps La Mission (The Mission District)
My girlfriend has the luxury of traveling to all corners of the globe for work. She typically frequents Australia and Hawaii a couple times a year but a current assignment enabled her to visit a deeply rooted section of western America: La Mission, San Fransisco.
If you are unfamiliar with The Mission District of San Francisco, this neighborhood has some serious cultural roots and history. The Yelamu Indians inhabited the Mission District for over 2,000 years and the area has been the bearer of successes and failures dating back to the Mexican-American War and American Gold Rush, giving the area a cultural one-stop-shop for one-of-kind art and history.
For the next few days we’ll be posting some snapshots of this amazing city right in America’s own back yard.

If you met a woman who could capture the raw essence of Hip Hop while showcasing its existence today through the lens of a Canon Rebel T1I. Who also, lives life with a passion for photography similar to a graffiti artist discovering an untouched city, and who is visually appealing to the eye with features like devilish green eyes, caramel skin, and a killer smile; would you be in love?
Well, take a number Jack!
Jonene Taddei is a woman doing big things in 2011. Therefore if your planning on spitting game make sure you come original as the shelltops on your feet hombre.
Luckily for me I didn’t have go that route when meeting Ms Taddei for the first time (thank god because my spit game is at a 6 right now) I’ve been blessed to have Jonene as a personal friend for close to 8 years now and super excited to finally admit her into the YouNation family.
I needed to get my interviewing skills up so I called her at 10am on a Wednesday morning to ask her a few annoying questions…
YouNation: Goodmorning Ms. Taddei
Jonene: Hey
YouNation: For the record how do you pronounce your last name?
Jonene: Ta-dd-y like paddy
YouNation: What’s the most important thing to you about your photography?
Jonene: Creative freedom, I have issues taking direction from authority figures with no creative taste.
YouNation: With the photography hustle being super saturated and hard to stand out in, do you have any advice for youngins trying to make a name for themselves?
Jonene: Yep.. (1) Shoot shit for free. (2) Befriend the little people. And (3) don’t be a dick-eater (laughing)
YouNation: What can we expect from Ms. Taddei in the near future?
Jonene: More pictures, keeping everyone visually happy. Oh and Urban Outfitters will be selling my prints in 2011 (shameless plug)
YouNation: Ok, totally unrelated but what’s in constant rotation for you right now?
Jonene: The Roots, Slum Village, and Res (How do I) are always in the rotation…

If you’re like me and into Urban art and Graffiti then you already know about the big production influx in the Urban toy game. One day when I have the $$ to buy $100 action figures I’ll be looking for limited edition pieces like my boy Mr. Spray here…
GET FAMILIAR!
Artist, Shepard Fairey and STRANGEco are proud to announce the release of Mr. Spray. An original figure based on 1950’s character design was first seen in Fairey’s art on the streets of NYC. This is the first original vinyl figure for Fairey in eleven years. The black and red versions are limited to 350 pieces and now available for pre-order on STRANGEco.com. The gold edition of 200 will be exclusive to OBEY and STRANGEco will be debuting 100 of the silver edition at booth 4629 in SDCC this year and will retail for $84.99. You should act fast because these rarities will disappear quickly.
The amazing work of Aryz, a street artist from the streets of Barcelona, Spain. You’re guaranteed to catch him on you’re next trip to Barcelona.
